Post Assessment Work
Working with Parents/Carers
A series of sessions to help you navigate the complex “how to help” question. Tailored to the type of difficulties your child experiences, your family’s priorities and the amount of time you have available. We identify areas of concern, your child’s areas of strength, strategies you are currently using or have tried in the past and what you would like to achieve. We then recommend a series of sessions focused on your priorities. This type of work is quite flexible and we can agree on the number of sessions we think would be helpful initially, and review this frequently.
Emotional Regulation / Difficult Behaviour Work
A block of sessions to work with you to support your child’s emotional regulation skills. We are trained and have extensive experience with a number of different approaches, including:
- SCERTS (https://scerts.com/)
- Social Thinking (https://www.socialthinking.com/) and the Zones of Regulation (https://zonesofregulation.com/)
- The Explosive Child approach by Dr. Ross Greene (https://drrossgreene.com/)
We co-produce all our visual tools with you and your child to make sure they fit with your child’s developmental stage and their current skills and interests. The sessions can include home visits, video calls and visits/liaisons with schools or other educational settings. Most of the sessions will be with you as parent/carer but there will also be sessions with your child.
If you have other professionals working directly with your child on emotional regulation targets and they are happy to take advice from us, we can provide consultation time to help them work towards the same goals.
Direct Intervention Work
We offer sessions of working directly with your child only when we feel they will be helpful and your child thinks so, too. We mostly offer solution focused work so the number of sessions, duration and focus will be constantly under review. We review progress with you at the end of every session and share insights, strategies and tools so you can continue the work at home. We only recommend continuation of the sessions if we find they are helpful and you and your child are in agreement too.
If you have other professionals working directly with your child, at school or at home, and they are happy to take advice from us, we can provide consultation time to them to help them incorporate our assessment findings into their work.
